A magical boho bridal session
Sooo….I have a confession. I have been MAJORLY slacking on my blogging game. The last few months for me have been jam packed with weddings, client meetings, portrait sessions, and editing (oh my!). That being said, somewhere in the midst of all the crazy I was able to escape to the coast for a few days to photograph a couple of photo sessions, one of which is the subject of this post :)
Kristen, of Kristen Nicole Makeup, and I had a vision for a styled bridal session to take place at the Pismo/Oceano Sand Dunes that would be all things romantic, boho inspired, and dreamy. We wanted lots of flowing fabric, muted tones with occasional pops of color to contrast the stark white of the sand, and golden sunset light. We decided on a really wild/boho style for Alexis’ hair involving lots of loose curls and a completely AMAZING braid which Jillian Carter executed flawlessly. Kristen kept the makeup romantic and fun by applying multi-colored glitter to the inner corners of her eyes.
The day of the session Ashley and Janay, of Belle of the Ball Event Rentals, not only came all the way from Fresno just for these photos BUT also hauled a full sofa, chest, peacock chair, and numerous fabulous accessories out onto the sand dunes to make it happen! I wish you could have seen the looks on people’s faces as we casually moved a full sofa into the middle of the dunes….it was pretty dang hilarious. Danielle Fischer, of Magnolia’s Yarden, brought us the most beautiful flowers and floral infused white chocolates to add the finishing touches to our tablescape.
Just as we finished setting up, the sun popped out and we got that great golden hour light we had been praying all day for (that central coast summer fog is something else, I’ll tell ya!). It was a lot colder out on the sand at dusk than we had anticipated, so if you are planning a session for the dunes I highly recommend having coats and boots on standby. Poor Alexis was frozen by the time we were done, but she was such a trooper you would have no idea by looking at the photos.
Anyways, I’m so SO happy with how these turned out and I’m very excited to share them with you all now! :) Scroll down for some magic!

My very favorite photos from this session were some of the last ones we took, as the moon rose and the sky turned a beautiful pastel purple just as the fog began to roll back in. I had Alexis twirl and dance (she was a great sport; she was actually freezing at this point because of the wind) and it was such a truly fun, magical moment. Also, Van Morrison anyone??
